CASH MONEY vs NO LIMIT: The South takes back control

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, the series VERZUZ was making his big comeback at ComplexCon in Las Vegas, pitting two legendary Southern rap empires against each other: Cash Money Records and No Limit Records.

The show opened to a packed crowd, a mix of nostalgia, Southern pride, and a hint of mayhem. In short, real energy. VERZUZ.

Two empires, one city

Cash Money Records

Founded in 1991 in New Orleans by Birdman and Slim Williams, the label exploded thanks to Juvenile,, B.G., Lil Wayne and Turk. Driven by the production of Mannie Fresh, Cash Money defined the bounce sound and chained together classics like Back That Azz Up and Bling Bling.

No Limit Records

Created the same year by Master P, No Limit established itself through its independent ethics and military aesthetics: tank logo and an army of artists like Mia X, Silkk the Shocker, Mystikal and C-Murder.

With its innovative distribution agreements, No Limit redefined the rap business.

Two labels born in the same city, but carrying two philosophies: Cash Money, the glitz and the party; ; No Limit, the street and discipline.

The duel

More than a battle, this VERZUZ resembled a mini-festival celebrating two cult catalogs:

• Master P opened with No Limit Soldiers, Ice Cream Man and Make 'Em Say Uhh!, proving that he remains a true conductor.

• Birdman replied with the classics of Big Tymers : Still Fly and Get Your Roll On, full of confidence and presence.

• Mia X delivered the most striking performance: clean flow, queenly attitude, the one who used the least amount of playback.

• B.G. rekindled the flame with Cash Money Is an Army and Bling Bling.

• Juvenile, Cash Money's MVP, closed with Slow Motion and Back That Azz Up, a moment of total unity in the room.

And the highlight of the show: Snoop Dogg appeared for Down 4 My N**z, paying homage to C-Murder, a surprise that made the atmosphere explode.

The absentees

Lil Wayne performed the same evening at the Drai's Nightclub from Las Vegas.

Turk was nowhere to be seen, and Birdman even threw a jab live on stage, fueling controversy right after the show. Mystikal and C-Murder remain incarcerated in Louisiana, their absence was deeply felt, though their names were honored during the performance. Without Wayne, Cash Money was clearly missing its firepower.

The atmosphere and the flaws

The energy of the audience was incredible: choruses shouted in unison, hands in the air, palpable nostalgia.

But the show was not without its flaws:

• Lots of playback and lipsyncing at times.

• Sound issues: uneven mics, chaotic transitions.

• More concert format than duel with medleys rather than distinct rounds.

Despite everything, the concept works. VERZUZ is transforming: the Insta Live duel is over, it's time for the live stage, the general public and real scenography.

Verdict

No official winner, but public opinion leans towards No Limit. Their cohesion, the performances of Master P, Mia X and the surprise presence of Snoop Dogg made the difference.

Cash Money still scored points: their anthems remain monstrous but without Wayne, the label seemed incomplete.

Beyond the clash

The evening reminded the world that New Orleans is a historic capital of hip-hop. It also marked the return of the format. VERZUZ in a new form: that of the large-scale concert-show.

No Limit may have won the battle, but both sides won the night.
