YamZ: the emerging artist moving forward one project at a time

Today, YamZ unveils Memories of a Broken Light. With this new EP, the Quebec MC delivers seven tracks built around atmosphere, emotion, and introspection.

It was through the official partnership between Collège Unica/Musitechnic and Magazine Hip-Hop that we discovered YamZ. Enrolled in the I.P.P. Program (Professional Progress Index) of Magazine Hip-Hop at the college, he is one of the young artists whose development is being monitored and structured by the institution.

YamZ represents a new generation of French-speaking artists who are building their identity with patience, curiosity, and determination. Here’s why his journey deserves our attention.

An artist who learns by creating

YamZ is not like the others. What sets him apart first and foremost is his direct involvement in the creative process. He produces his own beats, writes his lyrics, and performs his own tracks.

He does not entirely delegate his vision to others. Instead, he prefers to learn every step of the artistic process, from production to execution, in order to fully embrace his creative freedom. This approach allows him to evolve at his own pace while gradually establishing an artistic identity of his own.

His catalog is already beginning to take shape. In less than a year, he has released three projects, including:

• YamZ, an EP released in September 2025, showcasing his early artistic explorations.
• REDROOM!, a six-track EP released in May 2026, marked by a darker, more experimental approach influenced by digital trap.
• Au-delà du ciel!, an album released in June 2026, revealing a more pop and dance-oriented side, somewhere between R&B and reggaeton.

Three projects, three atmospheres, and three different ways of approaching music. Few emerging artists dare to showcase such rapid evolution from one release to the next. This diversity certainly reflects an ongoing search for identity, but above all, it reveals an artist who is not afraid to experiment and share his evolution with his fans.

A new introspective release

Through a dreamy atmosphere and more atmospheric trap, the artist explores themes such as addiction, loneliness, money, and heartbreak. The project presents a more vulnerable YamZ, focused on introspection and emotion, while maintaining the sonic approach that already characterizes his work.

He follows a simple but effective approach: build first, get known later.

His journey reflects that of a young emerging artist who is willing to take the time to learn, experiment, and reinvent himself. With several projects already released and a new release on the way, YamZ has all the tools he needs to grow into a fully accomplished artist.
