The Spanish version is currently in BETA mode.

On January 30, 2026, Uzi released the video for Retour aux Pyramides on his official channel. The track is built on a direct reuse of Retour aux Pyramides by the X-Men, originally released in 1997 on the soundtrack of the film Ma 6-T Va Crack-er. Even before its release, the project had been announced by Uzi on January 11 via Instagram, signaling an imminent drop and setting the stage around a track already steeped in history.

A cult classic of French-language rap.

Originally, Retour aux Pyramides is one of the standout tracks from the soundtrack of the film Ma 6-T Va Crack-er, a compilation released in June 1997 on Crépuscule France / PIAS France.

This soundtrack holds a special place in the history of French rap: it accompanied a film that became a cult classic and brought together artists such as IAM, Passi, Menelik, Assassin, Stomy Bugsy, as well as X-Men. The X-Men track, recorded and mixed by Spirit, was part of a period when French rap was consolidating its structure, networks, and cultural visibility. By revisiting this exact track, Uzi draws on a reference that is clearly identified, documented, and widely recognized.

Hip-Hop, a culture of intergenerational sharing.

The MC from 77 is only 26 years old. In 1997, when Retour aux Pyramides was released, Uzi had not yet been born.

The project takes on a particular dimension through the official clearance of the sample, granted by X-Men themselves. The decision to validate and publicly embrace this sample places the approach within a clear legal and symbolic framework: it represents a dialogue between generations, made possible by the agreement of the rights holders and their direct involvement in the project. This element sets Retour aux Pyramides apart from a simple remake and gives it historical significance.

With Retour aux Pyramides, Uzi makes a gesture that is crystal clear: reconnecting a foundational work of French rap with the current generation, while respecting its legacy and anchoring it in today’s rap.

We have just witnessed the passing of an intergenerational torch.
