Casablanca the Gawd is ready to hit hard with ''Sip Tea in the Trap''
Buffalo native, Casablanca the Gawd is ready to drop his next EP, Sip Tea in the Trap.
Buffalo native, Casablanca the Gawd is preparing to deliver a project that's both theatrical and deeply rooted in the streets. His upcoming EP, Sip Tea in the Trap, will be released on August 22nd and promises to establish his name in the current boom bap renaissance. Produced entirely by Montrealer Cotola, the EP unfolds a sound that's both timeless and modern, tailor-made for the MC's gripping narratives.
The first single, Larceny, immediately sets the tone: a melancholic and incisive production imbued with an adult perspective. Cotola fuses the classic robustness of boom bap with a dark, contemporary atmosphere, providing a perfect setting for the vivid writings of Casablanca.
More than just a collection of tracks, Sip Tea in the Trap is a nuanced autobiographical work, informed by the artist's real-life experiences. A protégé of the late DJ Shay, a central figure in the Buffalo scene and mentor to talents like Benny The Butcher, Casablanca continues this tradition of raw and uncompromising lyricism. His lyrics sharply address survival, loyalty, and introspection, delivered with the confidence of an artist who has endured both hardships and triumphs.
This new chapter follows on from his recent single, Readings on the Wall, in collaboration with Black Che and produced by V Don. The track earned the prestigious Certified Rosenberg Banger on Real Late by Hot 97 and was featured on New Music Friday by VIBE, alongside heavyweights like Key Glock, Kid Cudi and Playboi Carti.
The anticipation for the EP continues to grow. One listener summed it up :
"I love your sound, you're definitely Buffalo's next big thing."
This enthusiasm is fueled by flagship tracks from his catalog like Loosie and Slick Rick Chains, which earned him praise from Boom Bap Nation :
"A force to be reckoned with."
Acclaimed for his collaborations with montrealer Chung, Cotola 's production is both rooted in Hip-Hop tradition and endowed with cinematic scope. The alchemy between Casablanca and Cotola blends the pure roughness of New York's golden age with a contemporary freshness.
On August 22nd, Sip Tea in the Trap will confirm why the streets, blogs, and DJs have their eyes fixed on Casablanca the Gawd.
