The summer of 2025 will remain etched in rap history: Busta Rhymes received his own star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. During the ceremony, LL Cool J, Chuck D of the group Public Enemy and comedian Chris Rock were present to celebrate the exceptional career of this Hip-Hop monument.

A unique and charismatic journey

His real name Trevor Smith Jr., Busta Rhymes is known for his explosive energy, unmatched speed of speech, and boundless creativity. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, he first rose to prominence in the early 1990s with the band Leaders of the New School, then truly explodes solo thanks to cult collaborations on Scenario by A Tribe Called Quest and Flava In Ya Ear (Remix) by Craig Mack.

Busta then had a string of successes with albums that became benchmarks: The Coming, When Disaster Strikes, Extinction Level Event, or even Genesis. He has amassed five platinum and two gold records, placed ten tracks in the Billboard Top 40 and laid his signature flow on more than 300 tracks over the course of three decades of his career. His theatrical style and innovative music videos (we remember Gimme Some More or Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See) have inspired generations of artists.

A deserved recognition

Busta Rhymes was honored as it should be on Hollywood Boulevard, in Los Angeles. A star on the Walk of Fame is the supreme recognition in American show business. He thus joins other legends of Hip-Hop who have already received this distinction, like Snoop Dogg or Missy Elliott.

Beyond his musical successes, Busta Rhymes also marked the fashion with its line Bushi, cinema (notably in Who's The Man?) and records: he even made it into the Guinness Book of Records in 2000 for having rapped the most syllables in one second! However, despite twelve nominations, he has never yet won a GRAMMY – proof that the esteem of the public and one's peers sometimes counts for much more than trophies.

The star of Busta Rhymes on the Hollywood Walk of Fame symbolizes the vitality and longevity of one of the greatest MCs of all time. More than thirty years after his debut, The Dungeon Dragon continues to impose his voice, his flow and his style, showing to the youth and to all Hip-Hop enthusiasts that everything is possible with talent, work... and a good dose of creative madness.
