The return of Jimmy Kimmel in his hometown for a special series of episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live! took on the appearance of a Hip-Hop event when the legendary group Public Enemy took the stage for a moment that was both musical and political.

As the presenter faces a media storm following his suspension linked to his remarks targeting Charlie Kirk and his continued friction with the former president Donald Trump, Chuck D and Flavor Flav have chosen to publicly show their solidarity with him.

To the thunderous applause of the New York audience, Public Enemy performed a medley of cult hits, including Don't Believe the Hype and Fight the Power, before integrating their most recent release, The Hits Just Keep On Comin.

Before launching the show, Flavor Flav took a moment to address Kimmel directly:

"I just want you to know that Public Enemy will always be behind you,” he said, prompting a standing ovation from the room.

This stint in Brooklyn turned into a double statement: a reminder of the lasting influence of Public Enemy in committed music and a demonstration of public support for an increasingly controversial but still popular presenter.

Since their beginnings in the 80s, Chuck D and Flavor Flav have made their art an instrument of social and political protest. Their presence on the stage of Jimmy Kimmel Live! at such a tense moment illustrates how hip-hop remains, more than three decades later, a powerful voice for commenting on current events and mobilizing crowds.

With this performance, Public Enemy proved once again that music can go beyond entertainment to become an act of resistance and solidarity.
