Le Jib: a second album, a new stage

Published

on

Originally from the Lanaudière region of Quebec, Le Jib has been working for several years as an independent artist in his own right: rapper, singer, co-producer, instrumental composer and graphic designer.

After a first micro-album in 2017 (Monarque), followed by an official 11-track debut album (Bonsai, released on January 31, 2020), he went on to launch a series of projects on October 24, 2025, his second album ''Même ensemble on est seul'', under its own label Coeur d'art Records.

Beyond the studio, Le Jib is preparing a double launch: a show on December 12 at La Brassée (Montreal) with LeMind, and a series of 33 numbered physical mixtapes, a nod to his 33rd birthday.

Magazine Hip-Hop went to meet him to talk about his career, his new album, and to explain what it's like to be an independent Hip-Hop artist today.

Interview with Le Jib

Magazine Hip-Hop: To put our readers in the right frame of mind, could you outline the main stages before the launch of ''Même ensemble on est seul'' ?

Le Jib :
When I was very young, at around 11, I started dabbling in various aspects: writing, singing, rap, production and visuals. My first official project was the micro-album Monarque, released in May 2017, then Bonsai in january 2020, an album by 11 songs. Then came the EP Parmi des milliers in 2020, followed by a number of singles that paved the way for this second album.

Magazine Hip-Hop: Your new album was released on October 24, 2025. How would you introduce it to someone who doesn't know you yet?

Le Jib :
This is an album by 11 titles, this is a Hip-Hop album, but it's quite open-ended, with rap, vocals and more airy or more frontal atmospheres, depending on the track. The album features collaborations with MKey, Daisy Ray and Coby, as well as several prods by LeMind, with co-productions by Clermont, Maxime Dulac or Piet Luehr, depending on the piece.

The project is released via Coeur d'art Records, my label, with Bohemaa Communication / Symphonic Canada to digital distribution.

Magazine Hip-Hop: To make it clear to the public: what exactly is a “second official album” for an artist like you?

Le Jib :
For me, it marks a milestone. There have been years of work, several projects, and now this record comes as a solid block in that journey.

Magazine Hip-Hop: You're preparing a special show with LeMind. Why this two-person format, when you usually perform solo?

Le Jib : It's been a long time LeMind we work together. For this launch, I wanted something that really represented what we've been building up over the years. We'll be revisiting songs in a more intimate, acoustic mode. It's an important moment in my career, and I wanted to bring it out with my brother.

Magazine Hip-Hop: The December 12 show is also part of the launch of ''Même ensemble on est seul''. What guided you in the creation of this album?

Le Jib : I wanted a real album. Not an image, not a character. I talked about things that I experience for real: loneliness, sacrifices, the moments when you fall, when you doubt. In spite of that, there's always a glimmer, a desire to move forward. I'm 33, I've been doing this for over 10 years... this album is a turning point.

Hip-Hop Magazine: Four excerpts are already rolling at Influence Franco: “Slalom”, “Haze”, “Selective" And "I Wanna Go”. How do you see them being received?

Le Jib : It's motivating. When you're independent, every rotation, every sharing, counts. These songs represent the album well: highs, lows, but always a path.

Even before the album arrives, the movement is already underway: four of the five singles unveiled so far have entered the rotation on SiriusXM, And it's only the beginning. And this is just the beginning. The editorial team of Magazine Hip-Hop confirms that a visual will accompany each of the project's songs, to push the universe to the limit. The next to drop will be visualizer from Ride, produced by LeMind, scheduled for release on December 5.

Magazine Hip-Hop: You released your first album in 2017, then Bonsai and Parmi des milliers in 2020. How do you compare this new project with your previous ones?

Le Jib : Over time, I've learned to better channel what I want to say. Before, I wanted to show that I could rap, sing, produce... This time, I wanted above all to tell a story. I think this is my most accomplished project, because it's not built to impress: it's built to be real.

Magazine Hip-Hop: You're now signed to your own label, Coeur d'art Records. Was this important for you?

Le Jib : Yes, it's a choice that comes from the heart. I wanted this project to resemble me to the end, even in the way it was presented. It's a piece of road I wanted to travel on my own.

Magazine Hip-Hop: The December 12 show also features a 33-copy mixtape format. Where did this idea come from?

Le Jib : A nod to the days when mixtapes were sold by hand... and also to my age: 33. I wanted to offer something unique for this date. Each copy will be numbered. It's a way of thanking the people who have been following me for a long time.

Magazine Hip-Hop: After this launch, what are your plans for 2025?

Le Jib : This album has opened a new door for me. I want to see how far it can go. The future will guide me, as we always end up adjusting.

The aim of this interview was to introduce you to a talent yet to be discovered, but above all it gave me a better understanding of the man behind the artist. Jib has a lot to offer, both on record and in his approach to his career. We've talked about what's coming up, but out of respect for his process, we'll come back to those projects in due course. What's certain is that great things are afoot, and that he'll be able to rally people around his vision.

We wish him the follow-up he deserves. Magazine Hip-Hop will continue to monitor its development.
