Primary Wave, a music publishing and talent management company, has finalized the acquisition of a significant stake in the catalog and rights of legendary rapper Notorious B.I.G.
Primary Wave, a music publishing and talent management company, has finalized the acquisition of a significant stake in the catalogue and rights of the legendary rapper Notorious BIG. The agreement, reached shortly before the death of Voletta Wallace, the mother of Biggie, Last month, included 50%'s stake in the rapper's legacy.
The acquisition includes publishing rights, recordings, as well as the rapper's name, image, and likeness. The total value of the estate is estimated at over $200 million. This agreement underscores the continued importance of the legacy of Notorious BIG in the music industry, nearly 30 years after his death.
Voletta Wallace had managed to gain total control of her son's publishing rights over the years. She had negotiated with Sean "Diddy" Combs to increase the inheritance share to 85% in the early 2000s, before acquiring the remaining 15% in 2020.
Primary Wave plans to collaborate with the legacy of Notorious BIG to pursue projects that will elevate its legendary status. The company stated that:

Despite his tragic death at the age of 24, Notorious BIG is widely considered one of the greatest rappers of all time. His albums, notably "« Ready To Die " And " Life After Death«", have enjoyed immense commercial and critical success, with over 28 million albums sold in the United States.
