AMF: Release of the album "Furcy Heritage"
Released on January 9, 2026, the album Furcy Héritage marks the culmination of a musical project conceived in direct connection with the film Furcy, né libre, directed by Abd Al Malik. Conceived as a sonic extension of the feature film, the album accompanies the film's theatrical release scheduled for January 14, 2026, following a preview screening held on December 11, 2025.
The project is led by AMF, duo formed by Abd Al Malik and Mattéo Falkone, who is in charge of the ensemble's musical direction.
The album Furcy Héritage it does not present itself as a simple compilation associated with the film. It is conceived as an autonomous work, but directly nourished by the themes developed on screen: historical heritage, transmission, justice and collective memory.

From an artistic point of view, AMF has chosen a collective approach, mobilizing several generations of French-speaking rappers to create a dialogue between different writing styles and trajectories. This logic is evident from the very first released track, Sine Qua Non, put online in early December 2025.
"Sine Qua Non", the entry point of the project
As the album’s first single, Sine Qua Non brings together Youssoupha, Pit Baccardi, Kulturr, Soprano and Juste Shani, alongside Abd Al Malik and Mattéo Falkone.
The title adopts a collective structure, with each contributor offering their perspective within a shared framework. Making-of, published several weeks before the album's release, it already offered a glimpse into the studio discussions and the gradual construction of the track. Directed by Fabien Coste, this content helped to contextualize the project before the album's release.
A project rooted in a true story
The film Furcy, né libre retraces the legal battle of Furcy Madeleine, born on Bourbon Island (present-day Réunion Island) at the beginning of the 19th century. Upon his mother's death, Furcy discovers documents suggesting that he was born free, which leads him to initiate legal proceedings that will last several decades in order to have his status recognized.
The screenplay is adapted from the book The Furcy Slave Affair of the journalist and writer Mohammed Aïssaoui, which documents one of the longest trials in French colonial history.
The film is part of an educational approach, aiming to bring to light a little-taught episode in the history of slavery and its abolition.
From a technical standpoint, Furcy Héritage relies on a clearly identified team. The compositions are signed Bilal Al Aswad, while the mixing is handled by Yulan Feze and the mastering done at Masterdisk.
Executive production is handled by Grown Kid, media relations by Emma Soriano, with a project supported by the label G!braltar and distributed by The Orchard.
This professional framework allows the project to circulate in both musical and cinematographic networks, strengthening the link between the two works.
A musical outing ahead of the film
The album's release January 9, 2026 deliberately precedes that of the film, expected in theaters on January 14. This timeframe allows the themes of the story to be established before its release in cinemas, while also offering another point of entry for the public.
Music here acts as a narrative relay, capable of reaching an audience sometimes different from that of cinema, while remaining linked to the same approach of historical transmission.
With Furcy Héritage, AMF offers a work that goes beyond mere entertainment. The album is part of a dynamic of historical contextualization, where rap becomes a tool for storytelling and reflection, echoing a real story that has long remained on the margins of school curricula and public debate.
The project illustrates Hip-Hop's ability to engage in dialogue with other artistic disciplines, while retaining its function as a witness and a conduit for memory.
Available since January 9, 2026, the album Furcy Héritage it's available to stream now on streaming platforms. A way to immerse yourself in the world of the project before the film's theatrical release. Furcy, né libre, scheduled for January 14. And for the rest, all that remains is to prepare the popcorn, the liquor and the candy: this feature film promises to be a major historical work, based on a true story and rarely brought to light in cinema.
