Jodo Kast combines passion, management and creativity
Emerging in the late 90s, he first gained fame as a founding member of the band Uni-t.
On April 28, Jodo Kast marked another milestone in his career with the release on Spotify of his new solo song Drette-là, a signed production Sammy Bagdad, recorded, mixed and mastered by Clermont, with an apocalyptic visual created by the graphic designer Gamelin. This piece is part of a particularly productive year 2025 for the artist, who now combines solo career, management of artists and collaborations.
Montreal rap is rich in history, and some of its veterans, after taking a break from their careers to focus on their families, are returning today to pursue their passion. Jodo Kast is a striking example of this resurgence. Emerging in the late 1990s, he first became known as a founding member of the group Uni-t, alongside Loki and Azazel, a trio that has left its mark on the local scene.
Jodo Kast started the shows thanks to the support of the legendary Rock Dupervil, aka The Brain, which allowed the group Uni-t to perform at events hosted by Vulgaire. In 2001, he participated in the Narcotik Sonore by DJ Horg with the title Recoin Malsain and appears on the albums of Cavaliers Noirs. The following year, Uni-t released the album Prêts aux Changements, produced by DJ Horg and distributed throughout the store, with clip Pris Aux Pièges on Music Plus.
After his return noticed with Hard in featuring with L’Gros and DJ Horg on a composition of Paranoize.
Jodo Kast multiplied outflows in 2025: participation in the figure Alien Attack produced by DJ Horg, single release On débark with L’Gros, and appearance on the album Overtime by Hate’s Face. He is also preparing a collaborative EP with L’Gros and several solo projects with featurings still kept secret.
The group Uni-t, now composed of Jodo Kast, Azazel, L’Gros, Clermont and Yanick Rotunno, has regrouped and is working on a new EP, the release date of which remains to be announced. Fans will Jodo Kast in concert on May 24 in Gatineau and July 5 in Montreal.
Today, Jodo Kast is no longer limited to the stage: he also manages artists with Alien Stars Management, determined to support the next generation while pursuing his own passion.
His journey, marked by breaks and returns, illustrates the vitality and resilience of Montreal rap, where the experience of the old continues to inspire the new generation.
