The choice of the Vélodrome is no accident: it is one of the few stadiums capable of accommodating the usual grandeur of the artist.

This is the shock the rap world has been waiting for, and the news is now official. The European media team for Ye has confirmed to Magazine Hip-Hop that a monumental concert will take place in Marseille on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

For this one-off stop in France, the Chicago-born artist has set his sights on the Orange Vélodrome, the iconic venue of the Phocaean city. This strategic choice makes Marseille the only French city included in the tour, once again confirming its status as a key hub for urban culture in Europe.

True to his reputation as a visionary, Ye will not settle for a standard setup for this event.

A central stage for YE

However, the announcement has already sparked a political controversy in Marseille. The city’s mayor, Benoît Payan, has publicly stated that the artist is “not welcome” in the city, referring to controversies surrounding some of the rapper’s past statements.

Despite these reactions, the concert is for now still confirmed on the stadium’s schedule, and ticket sales are expected to open soon.

A rumor suggests that an unprecedented stage structure will be built directly at the center of the pitch. This immersive setup would allow the audience, spread throughout the stands, to experience the show in 360 degrees. The installation would transform the Vélodrome into a futuristic arena, highlighting an unprecedented visual closeness between the artist and his fans, promising an experience that could make history in French concerts.

The timing of this announcement is no coincidence, as it coincides with hot music news. The artist’s twelfth studio album, titled Bully, is set to drop in stores and on all platforms on March 20, 2026.

This Marseille concert will therefore be one of the very first opportunities worldwide to hear the new tracks live, just a few weeks after their official release. A genius producer and sound architect, will Ye mix his new gems with the legendary classics that built his legacy, from The College Dropout to Donda?

To ensure access for true fans and counter the black market, an ultra-secure ticketing system with a waiting list, or “Waitlist,” has been put in place. Fans must register on the artist’s official website or through the Orange Vélodrome platform before Monday, March 9, 2026 at 9:00 AM. Successful applicants will then receive their purchase confirmation between March 9 and 11.
