“Where You From”: a meeting between Casablanca the Gawd and Eto

Published on January 29, 2026, the video Where You From brings together Casablanca the Gawd and Eto on a track that clearly fits within the framework of New York independent rap.

Originally from Buffalo (New York), Casablanca the Gawd has developed his career outside mainstream circuits. Active in writing for more than twenty years, he has built an identity rooted in longevity, consistency, and a clear vision of rap for adults. Through what he defines as Grown Man Music, he speaks to an audience that has lived through time, hardship, and social realities without chasing passing trends. His calm, no-frills delivery relies on experience rather than spectacle, gradually establishing him within the underground network of upstate New York.

Alongside him, Eto, a recognized figure in Rochester’s independent rap scene, brings a natural counterbalance. Known for his prolific discography and regular collaborations with the American underground scene, Where You From is built on this obvious connection: two geographically close scenes, two paths forged outside mainstream circuits, brought together around some good old rap, direct and to the point.
