#28 – The ultimate ride of DJ Fade Wizard with L'argot and Kevin Morin
Filmed shortly before his death, the promo video for Kevin Morin became a final hurrah for DJ Fade Wizard.
Magazine Hip-Hop has the honor of unveiling today first #28 , the latest music video from Slang featuring the late DJ Fade Wizard, directed by JohnJohn by JohnJohn Film and produced by the renowned composer Farfadet. This release comes a few weeks after the tragic death of the famous DJ on April 20, 2025 following a scooter accident in Quebec.
Originally designed for the drifter Kevin Morin, the video clip was transformed, by fate, into a work of memorable character for hip-hop culture.
Worn by Slang, this project is part of a unique collaboration with Kevin Morin, two-time Canadian drift champion. An artistic and sporting alliance made possible thanks to the support of DEP420, the rapper's company, which has sponsored the pilot for three years already.
This cultural collaboration gave birth to a remarkable trilogy:
- A first documentary clip retracing the reconstruction of Morin's car after an accident (2023)
- The optimistic title Everything is fine bad (2024) and on a beat of Farfadet
- The iconic #28 (2025), last collaboration with DJ Fade Wizard
An emotionally charged project
For L’argot, JohnJohn and Fafadet, this clip is not only a farewell, but a promise: that of perpetuating the creative energy and humanism of DJ Fade Wizard, his real name Olivier Harvey-Cloutier.
Fade was a two-time DMC champion, participated in thousands of shows and collaborated with the biggest names on the Quebec scene such as Souldia, Webster, Monmon, Accrophone and FaceKché. His caring approach, his frankness and the quality of his work have made him a respected DJ in the hip-hop scene.
Today, #28 represents much more than just a musical collaboration. After meeting again on Facebook after years, Slang and DJ Fade Wizard had reconnected with the alchemy that already characterized them in their first collaboration.
JohnJohn, the director behind this project and member of the collective 12Singes, has put all his talent into this work. With more than 212 videos to his credit, this specialist in special effects and 3D animation, trained in cinema, has captured the very essence of this now historic collaboration.
A huge loss
The disappearance of DJ Fade Wizard leaves a huge void in the Quebec hip-hop scene. His musical legacy, marked by hundreds of events and prestigious collaborations, will remain etched in the history of the genre in Quebec. The video #28 represents much more than just a song: it is the artistic testament of a monument of hip-hop culture, a final gift for his fans and for an entire community in mourning.
Today, while viewing #28, remember the man behind the artist. This exceptional DJ, whom the bruised but united Quebec hip-hop scene will remember as a pioneer, a mentor, and an artist whose passion radiated far beyond the turntables. #28 is not an end, but a new beginning – an invitation to celebrate his life with every scratch, every rhyme, every project that dares to push the limits, as he always has.
The hip-hop community will pay him a final tribute
The August 15, 2025, his family, including his cousin Peach Gyal and the hip-hop community, will come together for an evening unique and vibrant in honor of DJ Fade Wizard. It will be at 345 rue du Pont, Quebec by 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.. Memorial Sound System will provide a space where music, memories and sharing will come together to celebrate his life, his art and his legacy.
His talent, energy, and humanity have forever left their mark on our culture. May his musical legacy continue to inspire, and may his soul rest in peace.
