Drake continues to tease Iceman and pays tribute to Giorgio Armani
Commercially, the extracts already available have received mixed reception.
Drake continues to put together his next album Iceman by multiplying surprises for his fans. During the third edition of his stream Iceman Episode 3, released less than 24 hours ago, the Toronto rapper unveiled several new tracks that fuel speculation around the project.
He also took the opportunity to pay tribute to Giorgio Armani, recently deceased, an iconic figure in fashion that Drake, a great lover of luxury houses, particularly admired.
Among the new releases, we find his new single That's How I Feel, as well as an excerpt from a highly anticipated collaboration with Yeat. Drizzy also presented a new version of Somebody Loves Me, enriched by the presence of Cash Cobain, and delivered a freestyle called They Wanna See Me Go, which recalls his iconic spontaneous performances.
An album without a date but with an unexpected muse
Despite these revelations, Drake has still not announced an official release date for Iceman. However, he confided during the podcast Not This Again by Bobbi Althoff that his current inspiration comes from an unexpected world: wrestling. The rapper explained that his muse was Rhea Ripley, WWE star and former Women's Champion.
"She's a wrestler, she's like my muse," he said, before acknowledging that the admiration might not be mutual: "But she... I'm the opposite of everything she likes."
Ripley, married to the wrestler Buddy Matthews, did not react publicly to these comments.
If Drake maintains the mystery, others speak in his place. The former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel stated that Iceman could be released in late October or early November, coinciding with the rapper's birthday.
Mixed reception for the first singles
Commercially, the already available excerpts have received mixed reception. The single What Did I Miss?, the first taste of the album, reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100, before quickly dropping. The next piece, Which One, failed to rank.
Collaboration with Central Cee also disappointed: heralded as a potential hit, it ultimately only reached 23rd place in the chart, marking the lowest performance of an official Drake single since Signs in 2017.
With these contrasting results and deliberately mysterious communication, Iceman appears to be a risky but strategic bet for Drake, which nevertheless continues to capture the public's attention with its exclusives and unusual secrets.
