I would like to emphasize that within the vast panorama of culture, a multitude of artistic facets are deployed, each carrying within it diverse motivations.

Born March 7, 1978 in Longueuil, Caya has emerged as an iconic figure in Quebec rap, not only thanks to his artistic talent, but also to his deeply rooted social commitment. His tumultuous journey has shaped his identity and led him to become a pillar of the Quebec hip-hop scene.

From his adolescence, Caya was drawn to event planning, renting out spaces such as clubs or church basements to provide a platform for the nascent hip-hop culture. This early passion for event planning laid the foundation for his future career in music.

The rise of Caya in the world of rap has been marked by decisive moments, such as the one when he realized during his adolescence his love for the artistic aspect of Hip-Hop during a concert in Trois-Rivières, where the crowd would sing along to his choruses. With this experience, he quickly found his way into the music industry.

Alongside his artistic career, Caya has always maintained a close connection with his community. His involvement at the Maison Kekpart of Longueuil was an eloquent example of his dedication to young people in difficulty.

As a counselor, he undertook various training courses to acquire the skills needed to provide emotional and practical support to those who needed it most. His own life experience allowed him to develop genuine compassion and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by young people in his community.

In 2001, Caya made history in Quebec rap with the release of the compilation “ The Zoo", including the iconic track " Front the original", which quickly became a classic of underground Hip-Hop in Quebec. Over the years, he has successfully released solo albums, such as " Lost good stock » (2001), « The street catches up with me » (2004), « Starting from nothing » (2007), « In the heart of the storm » (2010), « Pride or betrayal » (2019) and « The years pass » (2023), thus affirming its place in the history of Quebec music.

Staying true to his beliefs, the song " The street catches up with me " became a classic of the 2000s, offering a poignant account of his life experience. Looking back two decades, this song remains strikingly relevant, still poignantly reflecting his experience.

Besides his commercial albums, Caya also released mixtapes, distributed mainly by word of mouth and personal contacts. Productions such as " Side Line Vol. 1 » (2006) and « Side Line vol.2 » (2008) helped expand his influence within the Hip-Hop community.

Caya has distinguished himself as an independent artist by organizing several major events on the South Shore. His commitment to promoting hip-hop culture has been particularly remarkable. Despite the lack of support from mainstream media, he has managed to attract a large and passionate audience to the Maison Kekpart. This feat is a testament not only to his artistic talent, but also to his ability to mobilize his community around his passion for music.

He thus demonstrated his unwavering desire to make his voice and that of his community heard, thus affirming his status as an accomplished artist.

Caya now has 3.5 million clicks on YouTube and 2.5 million listens on digital platforms.

In 2024, Caya is recognized as one of the veterans of Quebec Hip-Hop. His undeniable artistic and social contribution testifies to the depth of his commitment to his community and his art. With a career so rich in musical achievements and social actions, Caya embodies the spirit of Hip-Hop as a driving force for change and authentic expression.

Still active, Caya invite you on February 24th to Factory 17 of the Market in the town of Valleyfield from 8:00 p.m.
