{"id":9271,"date":"2025-10-26T16:17:52","date_gmt":"2025-10-26T20:17:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/?p=9271"},"modified":"2025-10-26T20:19:22","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T00:19:22","slug":"cash-money-vs-no-limit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/cash-money-vs-no-limit\/","title":{"rendered":"CASH MONEY vs NO LIMIT: The South takes back control"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Saturday, October 25, 2025, the series <strong>VERZUZ<\/strong> was making his big comeback at <em><strong>ComplexCon<\/strong><\/em> in Las Vegas, pitting two legendary Southern rap empires against each other: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/cash-money-records\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2148\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cash Money Records<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/no-limit-records\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2285\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">No Limit Records<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The show opened to a packed crowd, a mix of nostalgia, Southern pride, and a hint of mayhem. In short, real energy. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/verzuz\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2286\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">VERZUZ<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Two empires, one city<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Cash Money Records<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded in 1991 in New Orleans by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/birdman\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2287\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Birdman<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/slim-williams\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2288\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Slim Williams<\/a><\/strong>, the label exploded thanks to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/juvenile\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2289\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Juvenile,<\/a><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/bg\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2290\"><strong>B.G.<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/lil-wayne\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"1940\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Lil<\/strong> <strong>Wayne<\/strong><\/a> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/turk\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2292\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Turk<\/a><\/strong>. Driven by the production of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/mannie-fresh\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2291\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mannie Fresh<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Cash Money<\/strong> defined the bounce sound and chained together classics like <strong><em>Back<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>That Azz Up<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Bling Bling<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>No Limit Records<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Created the same year by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/master-p\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2100\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Master P<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>No Limit<\/strong> established itself through its independent ethics and military aesthetics: tank logo and an army of artists like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/mia-x\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2293\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mia X<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/silkk-the-shocker\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2294\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Silkk the Shocker<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/mystikal\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2295\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mystikal<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinehiphop.com\/en\/tag\/c-murder\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"2296\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">C-Murder<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With its innovative distribution agreements, <strong>No<\/strong> <strong>Limit<\/strong> redefined the rap business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two labels born in the same city, but carrying two philosophies: <strong>Cash Money<\/strong>, the glitz and the party; ; <strong>No Limit<\/strong>, the street and discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The duel<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than a battle, this <strong>VERZUZ<\/strong> resembled a mini-festival celebrating two cult catalogs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Master P<\/strong> opened with <strong>No Limit Soldiers<\/strong>, <strong>Ice<\/strong> <strong><em>Cream Man<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Make &#039;Em Say Uhh!<\/em><\/strong>, proving that he remains a true conductor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Birdman<\/strong> replied with the classics of <strong>Big Tymers<\/strong> : <strong><em>Still Fly<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Get Your Roll On<\/em><\/strong>, full of confidence and presence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mia X<\/strong> delivered the most striking performance: clean flow, queenly attitude, the one who used the least amount of playback.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>B.G.<\/strong> rekindled the flame with <strong><em>Cash Money Is an<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>Army<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Bling Bling<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Juvenile, <\/strong>Cash Money's MVP<\/strong>, closed with <strong><em>Slow Motion<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Back<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>That Azz Up<\/em><\/strong>, a moment of total unity in the room.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the highlight of the show: <strong>Snoop Dogg<\/strong> appeared for <strong><em>Down 4 My N**z<\/em><\/strong>, paying homage to <strong>C-Murder<\/strong>, a surprise that made the atmosphere explode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The absentees<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Lil Wayne<\/strong> performed the same evening at the <em>Drai&#039;s<\/em> <em>Nightclub<\/em> from Las Vegas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\"><strong>Turk<\/strong> was nowhere to be seen, and <strong>Birdman<\/strong> even threw a jab live on stage, fueling controversy right after the show. <strong>Mystikal<\/strong> and <strong>C-Murder<\/strong> remain incarcerated in Louisiana, their absence was deeply felt, though their names were honored during the performance. Without <strong>Wayne<\/strong>, <strong>Cash Money<\/strong> was clearly missing its firepower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The atmosphere and the flaws<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The energy of the audience was incredible: choruses shouted in unison, hands in the air, palpable nostalgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the show was not without its flaws:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lots of playback and lipsyncing at times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sound issues: uneven mics, chaotic transitions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>More concert format than duel with medleys rather than distinct rounds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite everything, the concept works. <strong>VERZUZ<\/strong> is transforming: the Insta Live duel is over, it&#039;s time for the live stage, the general public and real scenography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Verdict<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No official winner, but public opinion leans towards <strong>No Limit<\/strong>. Their cohesion, the performances of <strong>Master P<\/strong>, <strong>Mia X <\/strong>and the surprise presence of <strong>Snoop Dogg<\/strong> made the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cash Money<\/strong> still scored points: their anthems remain monstrous but without <strong>Wayne<\/strong>, the label seemed incomplete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Beyond the clash<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The evening reminded the world that New Orleans is a historic capital of hip-hop.
