The Detroit artist looks back on his career through the prism of his fans, often described as the most passionate and sometimes controversial in the history of rap.

A film centered on the artist-fan bond

Directed by Steven Leckart and produced in part by Eminem itself, the documentary traces the cultural impact of the term stan, which has become synonymous with obsessive fandom. Shot between archives, testimonies and expert contributions, the feature film illustrates how Slim Shady shaped not only a generation of listeners but also a way of experiencing music. The film first circulated in a few festivals before being available on Paramount+ from August 26, thus giving international reach to his message.

The soundtrack: a mix of classics and new releases

In parallel, Eminem published Stans: The Official Soundtrack, an album that brings together twelve emblematic pieces from his career. It includes notable titles such as Stan with Dido, Not Afraid and Rap God, but also live performances captured during major events in his career.

The most anticipated new feature is undoubtedly Everybody's Looking at Me, produced by Dr. Dre. Inspired by a freestyle dating from the early 2000s, the version proposed in 2025 brings a new breath of fresh air with a chorus that takes up the classic Somebody's Watching Me by Rockwell. This unreleased piece created a surprise and confirms that, despite an already monumental career, Eminem still finds a way to deliver new and relevant content.

This song is a real middle finger to the entire music industry, in the purest tradition of Shady, one of the characters created by Marshall Mathers :

Marshall Mathers : the man behind the characters, the real person who nourishes these facets.

Eminem : the rapper classic, the artist in his public role.

Slim Shady : the crazy, provocative and limitless alter ego.

Barely available, the soundtrack climbed into the top 10 of album sales on iTunes, while the unreleased single immediately circulated on streaming platforms and social networks. Fans welcome both the return to a classic production with Dr. Dre and the balance between nostalgia and novelty.

Eminem doesn't just revisit his past successes: it highlights the special relationship he has with his audience, sometimes admired, sometimes criticized, but always essential. The documentary and its soundtrack work like two pieces of the same puzzle, reminding us how much Slim Shady has left its mark not only on Hip-Hop, but also on popular culture in the broadest sense.

The documentary also contains a passage that will be of interest to French-speaking audiences: Oli, from the duo Bigflo & Oli, appears in a sequence that has gone viral. We see the Toulouse rapper asking Eminem to sign his arm, with the clear intention of transforming this signature into a tattoo. The French artist was quick to take action, as evidenced by the images where we discover the dedication of Slim Shady permanently etched in ink. A scene that illustrates how much the MC's influence Eminem inspires entire generations of artists around the world.

<iframe loading="lazy" src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/page.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fmagazinehiphopculture&tabs&width=340&height=110&small_header=false&adapt_container_width=false&hide_cover=false&show_facepile=false&appId=23912480358348435" width="340" height="130" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true" allow="autoplay;
