The Indigenous hip-hop duo Snotty Nose Rez Kids<\/a><\/strong> (SNRK<\/strong>), composed of Darren<\/strong> " Young D<\/a><\/strong> \" Metz<\/strong> and Quinton<\/strong> " Yung Trybez<\/strong> <\/a>\" Nyce<\/strong>, from Kitamaat Village in British Columbia, made history by winning the 2025 Juno Award for Best Rap Album\/EP for Red Future<\/em>, their sixth studio album. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considered their \u201cmagnum opus\u201d, this ambitious project, released in September 2024 under the Sony Music label, embodies a bold vision of the Indigenous Futurism<\/strong> (indigenous futurism), combining cultural claims, artistic collaborations and innovative production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed over four years, Red Future<\/em> explores a decolonial vision where Indigenous voices shape the future. The album brings together 12 emerging and legendary Indigenous artists, forming a kind of " Avengers<\/em> musical." Titles like No Dogs Allowed<\/em> and Let Ya Hair Down<\/em> combine hard-hitting beats with messages about resilience and Indigenous excellence, while renowned producers (dwilly<\/strong>, Eastbound<\/strong>) bring an international touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A consecration at the Juno 2025<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At the ceremony in Vancouver, SNRK<\/strong> delivered an electrifying performance alongside Tia Wood<\/strong> (Saddle Lake Cree Nation), emphasizing their commitment to representing Indigenous excellence. In their speech, Young D<\/strong> expressed his surprise, while Yung Trybez<\/strong> recalled the importance of oral traditions: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This victory caps a year marked by three Juno nominations (including Contemporary Indigenous Artist and Album of the Year), confirming their growing influence in the Canadian music industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SNRK<\/strong> deliberately chose collaborations with 100 indigenous % for Red Future<\/em>, refusing to " chasing famous names<\/em> \" for the benefit of the community. Among the guests: the Navajo rapper Travis Thompson<\/strong> (Reservation Dogs<\/em>) and the MC screams Drezus<\/strong>, who accompany them on tour. Their setlist of 40 songs, presented during the Red Future Tour<\/strong> (32 dates in North America), mix of old committed titles (Skoden<\/em>, The Warriors<\/em>) and new futuristic anthems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Kitamaat Village to international<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Formed in 2016, the duo has established itself with award-winning albums (The Average Savage<\/em>, TRAPLINE<\/em>) and explosive stage energy. Their signing with Sony in 2023, followed by a series <\/strong>autobiographical television series announced for 2024, illustrates their rise well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
